Chief Financial Officer
Help Build the Future of One of the Pacific Northwest's Premier Heavy Civil Contractors
Interwest Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced, visionary Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Executive Leadership Team.
For more than 40 years, Interwest Construction has built roads, bridges, underground utilities, fish passage projects, site development, and critical public infrastructure throughout Washington State. As our company continues to grow, we are seeking a strategic financial leader who can help shape the next chapter of our success.
This is more than a finance position. This is an opportunity to partner directly with the President and Executive Leadership Team to influence Company strategy, strengthen operational performance, build scalable financial systems, and develop the next generation of financial leadership.
About the Opportunity
The Chief Financial Officer serves as the Company's senior financial executive and strategic business partner to the President.
While overseeing the Company's financial operations, the CFO's primary responsibility is helping leadership make better business decisions through sound financial strategy, insightful analysis, disciplined risk management, and operational partnership.
The successful candidate will join a strong accounting foundation, including a talented Controller and accounting team. Rather than serving as the day-to-day accounting manager, the CFO will provide executive-level leadership, strategic direction, mentorship, and organizational development as the Company continues to grow.
This position offers a unique opportunity to leave a lasting legacy—not only through financial stewardship, but by developing future financial leaders within the organization.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will be an experienced financial leader who understands both the technical side of accounting and the operational realities of the construction industry. This person will bring strong experience in construction accounting, job costing, work-in-progress reporting, cash flow management, bonding, banking relationships, financial controls, and strategic financial planning.
A qualified candidate will be comfortable partnering directly with ownership, executive leadership, operations, estimating, payroll, HR, safety, equipment, and project management. They should be able to translate complex financial information into practical business guidance, identify risks and opportunities, and help drive informed decisions that support long-term company growth.
The successful candidate will be a steady, professional, and trusted leader who values accuracy, confidentiality, accountability, and collaboration. Experience in civil construction, heavy highway, public works, union payroll, certified payroll, retainage, equipment costing, and Washington State construction operations is strongly preferred. Experience with HCSS and Computer Ease is desired.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated compensation range for this position is $140,000 to $170,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
Interwest Construction, Inc. offers a competitive benefits package, including employer-paid employee health, dental, vision, and life insurance on a low-deductible health plan, paid time off, paid holidays, 401(k)/Roth employer match, and eligibility for an annual bonus compensation plan.

Interwest Construction, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, creed, citizenship status, or any other status protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
